    Direct Support Staff Team Members are responsible for aiding our residents in dealing with emotional issues and learning basic life skills through coaching, direct support, crisis management and de-escalation techniques.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:
    • Help foster a safe and therapeutic environment for residents, maintaining appropriate boundaries, identifying risks, completing patient safety checks as required, and assisting in daily activities.
    • Encourage residents’ participation in groups and activities. Help recognize behavioral changes in patients and inform necessary team members.
    • Participate and assist in PATH-sponsored events, both on and off-campus, including: outdoors exploration; sporting pastimes like skiing, hiking and kayaking; gardening; sharing in the care of the PATH menagerie of pets and farm animals; helping guide weekend outings to nearby attractions and entertainment centers.
    • Assist in med room duties, as trained.
    • Help the team maintain required logs, shift notes and documentation.
    • Actively attend in-house group meetings as indicated by house schedule. Provide coaching for patients to reinforce skill development.
    • Assist with driving of residents to activities, job opportunities, school and appointments as needed.
    • Perform other responsibilities and duties not delineated above that are specific to area of assignment.

    Training provided in First Aid, CPR, AED, self-administered meds and Safe Defensive Driving.

    Primary Clinician Description and Duties:

    The Primary Clinician serves several roles for the residents including psychotherapist, case manager/navigator, and team liaison. The primary clinician is involved in direct clinical service to residents and is engaged in:

    Conducting admission intakes

    Creating clinical treatment plans and monitoring resident progress

    Providing intensive (3x/week) psychodynamically oriented individual psychotherapy

    Supporting crisis work (as needed)

    Supporting communication with resident’s families, including some family therapy as needed

    Facilitating at least one psychodynamic process group and one psychoeducational group per week

    Primary clinicians are also the case manager/navigator for residents, providing necessary support to facilitate other aspects of their treatment process with the treatment team, including but not limited to vocational, academic, and recreational engagement. Finally, Primary Clinicians also serve as liaison for the resident with other team members.

    Requirements for Primary Clinician:

    Possess a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA- accredited program and the completion of an APA-accredited internship.

    Postdocs are encouraged to apply. Candidates with an MSW from psychodynamic programs and appropriate post-graduate psychodynamic training are also encouraged to apply.

    Be licensed in the state of Vermont; if not licensed in Vermont, must become licensed within 18 months of beginning work.

    Have strong clinical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

    Have at least 1-3 years experience working with young adults.

    Hours and supervision:

    Primary Clinicians are supervised by the Clinical Director.

    The Primary Clinician position averages between 24-35 hours a week, 49 weeks per year, with on-call and weekend availability as needed.

    Helping Young Adults Embrace Life

    We are seeking an Night-watch* staff member for the 10 pm – 8 am overnight shift, two - four nights per week. This position allows the employee to sleep in a pre-arranged space for the majority of the shift, but does require their availability for any situations that may occur in the residence overnight. The employee will be trained to respond to any in-house emergencies and follow protocols to immediately contact support staff as needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    Be present onsite during the overnight shift and available to residents in the case of an emergency

    Act as first responder to any in-house emergencies, including but not limited to health and safety-related situations

    Follow protocols to immediately contact additional support staff as needed

    Other duties as assigned

    Training provided in basic first aid, CPR and AED.

    Strong professional approach to the nature of the work

    Good communication and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on respect and collaborative engagement within the community.

    Position description and responsibilities:

    The Community Care Coordinator (CCC) supports PATH residents both at the main house as well as in their transition to, and experience in, PATH’s After Care Wraparound program. The CCC is part of the treatment team and is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director of PATH. For both residents at the main house (located in Danby, Vermont) and in the After Care program (located primarily in Manchester, VT and Bennington, VT), the CCC is responsible for: 1) facilitating group therapy (e.g., CBT/DBT skills, addictive behaviors, activities of daily living, executive functioning skills), 2) providing individual supportive/solution focused therapy to residents (as needed for residents in the main house, and up to 3x/week for residents in After Care Wraparound Program), 3) providing crisis intervention support, and in some cases 4) providing family therapy. The CCC also works closely with the treatment team to provide case management, care coordination, transitional care support/interventions, and facilitate referrals to community resources for residents in the After Care Wraparound Program.

    Minimum Education

    Masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related discipline.

    Candidates who are currently enrolled in a Masters program and are completing their internship may be considered, but preference will be given to those with a completed degree

    Minimum Work Experience

    1-3 years of specialized experience in mental health/social work settings

    Experience providing individual and family therapy, group facilitation, and knowledge of community resources, care coordination, crisis intervention

    Experience working with teens/young adults with mental health, substance use, and developmental challenges.

    Required Licenses/Certifications

    State professional licensure required (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMHC) or if not licensed must be eligible for licensure within 6 months of start of employment

    Valid Vermont state driver’s license.

    CPR or First aid will be a mandatory requirement upon hiring

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    Ability to perform psychosocial assessments, create and adjust after care treatment plans, create and adjust relapse prevention plans accordingly

    Knowledge of and experience with clinical case management practices

    Knowledge of DBT, CBT, and motivational interviewing as well as other brief behavioral interventions

    Experience facilitating group therapy sessions

    Experience working with families and conducting family therapy

    Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and experience supporting clients in crisis

    Working knowledge of psychotropic medications

    Ability to develop and maintain effective therapeutic and professional relationships with residents and their families

    Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills

    Ability to document clinical and case management contacts appropriately in EHR system

    Comfort/competence in working with various other software platforms

    Understanding of cultural competency and ability to provide compassionate care to residents with diverse values, gender identities, and sexual orientations, and from diverse sociocultural/socioeconomic backgrounds

    Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary treatment team

    Knowledge of community programs and supportive services

    Ability to work with residents over the phone as well as in person
